Inside Sweden 2007-06-01

It`s a facet of life in Sweden that many Swedes won`t ever experience. Inside Sweden meets a journalist who wanted to change all that – and spent a year in a one of this country`s refugee reception centres – and wrote a book about her experiences. One senior citizen dropped off a sawn-off shotgun and one couple were relieved to get rid of a weapon they`d been hiding for decades. Sounds more like the wild west than Scandinavia – but it`s just one story from the three-month weapons amnesty that ended yesterday. Also, a disturbing report this week uncovers violence against disabled women – and it`s often carried out by their caregivers.

Kidnapped BBC Correspondent Speaks

Prager H1: BBC Correspondent Alan Johnston has been a hostage in Gaza since March 12. A video of him blaming the US, Israel and the UK for all the world’s problems has just been released… Norway sends money to Hamas – for civilian purposes. Oh, please. This is supporting terrorism, plain and simple… The world isn’t that morally complex. The problem is people just don’t want to face evil. It’s a lot easier and safer to attack GW. You can do that all day and not get hurt.

Tornado Strikes Sweden

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: , , , , — entry @ 21:18PM

It is rare but it does happen here in Sweden. The Weather people say that Sweden gets about one tornado a year. The news reports said that every road in the small town of Virsbo was blocked by trees or some other debris.

The Monkey Princess will get her Monkey Butt going and Translate the details for you people that do not Prata Svenska!

Tromb krossade bil i Virsbo

Inside Sweden 2007-05-11

Sweden`s trade union movement in shock today after union members show surprising support for the country`s far right xenophobic party. As Swedish Radio`s special climate week wraps up, Inside Sweden looks at the impact of our environmentally unfriendly lifestyles on developing countries. And a little later in the programme, male circumcision has been historically less common in Sweden – than in many other parts of the world, but now the tragic ramifications of ceremonial and often illegal circumcisions being performed in multicultural Sweden`s is forcing authorities to act.

Radar Velocity Data from Greensburg tornadoOn The Radar: We visit with Mike Umscheid from the National Weather Service Office in Dodge City, KS. Mike was the radar meteorologist on duty during the EF-5 tornado that plowed through Greensburg, Kansas. He’ll talk about what he saw on radar and what it feels like to work through a “career storm“, the first EF-5 on the new scale and first F-5 in the U.S. since 1999. Click here to link to ongoing coverage from NWS Dodge City, KS;

Reed TimmerWay Too Close: Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor came within 50 yards of a powerful tornado in Oklahoma last weekend. Their video has been seen around the world on CNN and YouTube. David Black talks with Reed Timmer about the dangerous chase and the amazing video they shot. Visit their website at TornadoVideos.net;

Around The Roundtable: J.B. looks at his “reflection” in the Gulf of Mexico…is the National Guard ready for more severe weather? And we talk about hurricane season;

The Week In WeatherThe Week In Weather: A police officer, and her car, get tossed around…get ready for more space storms…and Alaska, wolves and snow;

Smoke in a Movie and Get an R Rating

Prager H1: The Motion Picture Association intends to place smoking on the same level as sex, violence and drug use. Open Lines

Prager H3: Per usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: when do you decide when to forgive to someone; how do you comfort your wife after she’s had a miscarriage; what does a Jew have to do to get into heaven; why don’t we focus more attention on Saudi funding of anti-American schools in the US and abroad; why doesn’t Allen change the bumper music more often; isn’t smoking a religious sin.

Through the Back Door: Doctors Turn Against Abortion Most of you know that the Supreme Court recently handed the pro-life cause an important victory by upholding a ban on partial-birth abortion. SHOW

Republicans Debate Prager H1: Dennis analyzes the first Republican debate. Overall, he was impressed with the quality of the candidates

Happiness Hour: Raise a Happy Adult Prager H2: We all want our children to be happy, but a child’s happiness should not be your goal as a parent. Your goal should be to raise a happy adult. That doesn’t always mean a happy child. Building character should supersede keeping your child happy. In the long run, this approach is more likely to lead to a happy adulthood.

Open Lines Prager H3: As usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: why do liberals have more bumper stickers more than conservatives; how does Dennis feel about tip jars; what would a July 4 “seder” (Passover-like service) look like; should minorities be treated the same as the majority population or should minorities be treated better.

You’ve heard the old saw before: Science is one thing, religion another—that on one hand, science deals with hard facts, while religion deals with unverifiable beliefs and inflexible dogmas. In fact, these days we are hearing an awful lot from fanatical atheists like Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion, who say that Christianity is actually a threat to science: that religion and science are fundamentally at odds.

This is a Great Program

We Love ‘John of Queens’ and ‘Frank of Staten’ Island!!!

Once You Have an Epithet, Why Think?n

Frank shows how the origins of today’s bumper-sticker mentality is a direct descendant of Trotskyite ideology, as expressed in his slogan, “Once you have an epithet, why think?”.

Also, Cuban-American writer Humberto Fontova speaks about his new book, “Exposing The Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who idolize Him,” and delves into Cuba’s role in the assassination of JFK and the Angolan Wars in Southern Africa.

Plus, how lax immigration plays a role in the increasing Mohammadean threat against Great Britain…. political pedophilia on American Idol…

Prager H1: That’s the latest edict from the Ahmadinejad regime in Iran. Is this the society Iranians really want? Is this a government we can negotiate with? So, why it should difficult to understand how the Twin Towers could collapse…. Former CIA Director George Tenet gets his facts wrong and then LA Times columnist, Tim Rutten, uses the wrong facts prominently in his review of Tenet’s book.
