NATO – Noble Mariner Program comes to Gothenburg.

“Hamnar stÃ¤ngs infÃ¶r Nato-besÃ¶ket
FrÃ¥n midnatt till fredagen skÃ¤rps sÃ¤kerheten i Frihamnen och Lundbyhamnen. Det sker infÃ¶r ankomsten av en stor marin Nato-styrka till GÃ¶teborg nÃ¤sta vecka.

Noble Mariner Ã¤r en Ã¶vning fÃ¶r medlemmar av fÃ¶rsvarsalliansen Nato och sÃ¥ kallade partnerskapslÃ¤nder som Sverige. Ã–vningen, som Ã¥terkommer Ã¥rligen, bÃ¶rjar den 14 maj och pÃ¥gÃ¥r till den 24 maj i sÃ¶dra Ã–stersjÃ¶n.
Ett 80-tal fartyg med Ã¶ver 17 000 sjÃ¶mÃ¤n frÃ¥n 17 lÃ¤nder Ã¤r med. Den svenska marinens bidrag Ã¤r tvÃ¥ korvetter, tvÃ¥ minrÃ¶jningsfartyg och en ubÃ¥t.
En sista planeringskonferens infÃ¶r Ã¶vningen genomfÃ¶rs i GÃ¶teborg 10-13 maj. Hit kommer 37 fartyg och cirka 6 500 sjÃ¶mÃ¤n, med bÃ¶rjan pÃ¥ onsdag.
Det Ã¤r vid de platser som fartygen kommer att lÃ¤gga till eller ankra som nu fÃ¶rklaras som skyddsobjekt. Det innebÃ¤r att “objekten” kommer att bevakas och att inga obehÃ¶riga har tilltrÃ¤de.
De omrÃ¥den som berÃ¶rs Ã¤r Frihamnen och Lundbyhamnen och vÃ¤stra Skandiahamnen i GÃ¶teborg samt en del av Danafjorden. Restriktionerna gÃ¤ller fÃ¶ljande tider:
o Frihamnen/Lundbyhamnen: 4 maj klockan 00.00 till och med den 14 maj klockan 20.00.
o VÃ¤stra delen av Skandiahamnen: 8 maj klockan 08.00 till och med den 14 maj klockan 12.00.
o Del av Danafjorden: 8 maj klockan 08.00 till och med den 14 maj klockan 20.00.
FÃ¶r att inte hindra nÃ¶dvÃ¤ndiga civila transporter till och frÃ¥n GÃ¶teborgs hamn tillÃ¥ts fri passage fÃ¶r fartyg i Torshamnsleden. Det sker i anslutning till skyddsomrÃ¥dets sydÃ¶stra del.
Fartyg som ska till och frÃ¥n farlederna norr om FotÃ¶ och Ã¶ster om HÃ¶nÃ¶ kan passera genom en Ã¶ppen korridor i omrÃ¥dets sydvÃ¤stra del.
Efter samverkan mellan SjÃ¶fartsverket och Marinbasen kan fartyg vid behov fÃ¥ utnyttja ankarplats inom det skyddade omrÃ¥det.
Varje Ã¥r genomfÃ¶rs omkring 20 Ã¶rlogsbesÃ¶k i Sverige, enligt marinen. De flesta sker i GÃ¶teborg. Detta bli dock den stÃ¶rsta sammandragningen av utlÃ¤ndska Ã¶rlogsfartyg och sjÃ¶mÃ¤n pÃ¥ lÃ¤nge. SÃ¤kerhetsarrangemangen Ã¤r stora.
Ulf Ã–berg Ã¤r marinens informationsansvarige:
– NÃ¥got enstaka fartyg kommer pÃ¥ onsdag, merparten nÃ¤sta torsdag. 20-25 kommer att ligga i Skandiahamnen.
Ett av dessa Ã¤r det brittiska hangarfartyget HMS Ark Royal, som deltog i Irakkriget Ã¥r 2003.
Det Ã¤r tveksamt om det blir nÃ¥gra speciella arrangemang som trots allt gÃ¶r det mÃ¶jligt fÃ¶r intresserade att fÃ¥ se fartygen frÃ¥n insidan.
– Ã–ppenhet Ã¤r vÃ¤ldigt viktigt. Men det blir sannolikt inga visningar ombord, sÃ¤ger Ulf Ã–berg.
Ã–rlogsbesÃ¶ket sammanfaller med GÃ¶teborgsvarvet nÃ¤sta lÃ¶rdag. Det har har delvis pÃ¥verkat strÃ¤ckningen av den drygt 21 kilometer banan vid de berÃ¶rda hamnomrÃ¥dena.
