Snus is still better than cigarettes

The pros and cons of the Swedish snus (raw tobacco ground to a powder, rehydrated and “fermented” – very different rom chewing tobacco such as Skoal) has been debated over and over again. Today there is a total sales ban of snus in the rest of the EU countries, as well as in some countries outside the EU. A new study might shine some light on this whole issue. Swedish snus does not increase the risks of getting oral cavity cancer, nor lung cancer. It does however give a SLIGHTLY increased risk of getting pancreatic cancer, but the numbers are very low, so low that one wonders if it really is due to using snus – let’s say that 10 000 men have used snus for a period of ten years, then eight to nine of these 10 000 men will get pancreatic cancer. If you have a group of 10 000 men that neither used snus or cigarettes during that same period of time, then four to five of THOSE men will get pancreatic cancer.

Cigarettes are MUCH worse than snus, smokers are much worse off than snus users, but you don’t see any sales bans on cigarettes anywhere, do you?!? Still, there IS that smoking ban in public restaurants and so on… but SNUS doesn’t PRODUCE any smoke, so we can simply not understand why there is a sales ban on snus when you can buy cigarettes anywhere!

If smokers went over to using snus, sure, it’s still nicotine and it still isn’t absolutely healthy, but the smokers would live longer!

Murder Threats against Swedish Psychiatric Clinic

A former patient at the psychiatric clinic at Sahlgrenska Sjukhuset has on several occasions threatened to kill a doctor who refused to prescribe narcotics to him. Now the psychiatric unit is guarded around the clock.

The staff at the clinic are obviously disturbed by these threats.

The former patient is a man in his fifties, and on two occasions he has come by the clinic to ask his former doctor to give him narcotics.

Of course the doctor refused, basing the decision upon the fact that the man no longer needs any psychiatric care, and definitely not is in need of any narcotics.

The man has then made death threats against the doctor.

The police were called to the clinic once, to arrest the man. He was however later released, only to break in at the clinic to, as he himself has stated, kill the doctor

The police were called to the clinic a second time, and the man was arrested, and later released, just like before.

Then the staff at the clinic decided to keep the doors locked, and later they hired a guard that is posted outside the entrance day and night for protection.

This is the first time ever that something like this has happened at the clinic, and the entire staff is very worried.

The police are investigating the matter.

Sweden: Elderly & Sick must pay for Flu Shots

The Västra Götalands region refuses to give out free flu shots – despite th fact that the number of vaccinations have decreased and the risks for old and sick are greater now than before.

Swedish Healthcare

The region is one of three Swedish regions that still charges old people and people with certain illnesses or diseases, the high risk groups.

No FREE flu shots for more then 270,000 high risk people in the Gothenburg area

Approximately 270 000 people in the region are in the high risk group, and they still have to pay the 100 crowns in order to get their flu shots.

Every year 2000 elderly die from the flu, or side effects of the flu, such as pneumonia. Hospital care for people with severe flu costs a lot more for Sweden than the flu shots would.

Very few young people within the risks group get vaccinated, and that is also something that ought to change. Just because you are young doesn’t necessarily mean that you are strong enough to handle a flu.

Unborn Swedish Babies affected by Weight loss pills

Women who are or are trying to get pregnant should absolutely not take the weight loss pill Reductil.

The medical birth register states that 90 Swedish women have said that they have used Reductil in the beginning of their pregnancies. The number of babies born with deformities is twice as high withing this group as what would have been normal – all in all there has been ten cases of deformities.

So far there are no scientific evidence that indicates that Reductil would cause harm to unborn babies, and this high number might just be a coincidence.

However, tests done on animals have indicated that there IS a connection, so mothers, beware.

Sweden To Be The Baby Grinder of Europe

Many people in Sweden are opposed to the proposition to open up Swedish Abortion clinics to the entire population of the European Union. The question has been asked, why should Sweden’s already burdened Health Care System now be flooded with a stream of women from every European Country.Swedish People are saying that Sweden should remain prominent as a Business, Tourism and Trade destination and not become notorious for being an Abortion Tourism Destination.

It is strongly felt by many that the medical procedure of abortion should be available to all women. At the same time it is also believed to be a practice that is all to common. Abortions should be rare.

Sex education should again focus on birth control and safe sex and not be focused on the politics of groups seeking special treatment for various sexuality. Sex education should be Sex Education and not political and social indoctrination.

Sweden should not have the shame of being the baby grinder of Europe.

Abortion law battle rages on

The Christian Democratic Party’s suggested new law on abortion would give foreign women only in Sweden temporarily to have abortions at Swedish hospitals.

This is being highly criticized by – people within the Christian Democratic party!

It is the Swedish Social minister and Christian Democratic Party leader Göran Hägglund who now is handing in the suggestion, despite the critique from within his own party.

Several Crhistian Democratic Party members now fear a wave of “abortion tourism”, and openly attack the fact that Hägglund has been the one pushing the issue.

In February two church leaders wanted to get a boycott going against the government alliance.

The government is also going to work out a national plan in order to reduce unwanted pregnancies, and a work group will be chosen for this.

Hägglund himself says that the way he sees it the woman herself is the one who is suppose to make the decisions. Turning down this new proposal might be forcing twomen who could have been helped here in Sweden to have illegal and unsafe abortions performed in her home country.

He sees this proposal along with the national plan as a way to FEWER abortions, not MORE.

Swedes Continue to suffer long waiting time at ER

Every third person that gets signed in at the ERs around Gothenburg has to spend more than 4 hours of waiting before they are considered fully cared for.

A lot of this might have to do with people coming to the ER with problems that aren’t exactly considered an emergency, and instead should be dealt with by a district nurse or a regular doctor.

A large number of beds at the Gothenburg hospitals are occupied by patients that the communities aren’t bringing back home to nursing homes and service homes, patients that really don’t need the special hospital care anymore – this in its own turn has to do with the lack of homes available for the elderly and sick. This affects the ERs, as they have trouble getting emergency patients signed in to wards due to lack of beds.
