BREAKPOINT with Chuck Colson – 2007-05-22

Public Safety Issue Number One: Reducing Recidivism

During the 1980s and 90s we heard a lot about the “war on crime”: getting criminals off the streets with increased spending on law enforcement and tougher sentencing.

Daily Commentary

Daily Commentary – 2007-05-22

David Aikman: Chaos in Gaza

Palestinian politics is nowhere more violent than in Gaza, where 41 people have been killed in the past few days. Hamas gunmen have been ambushing Fatah security forces, have attacked the homes of Fatah ministers and basically implemented a full drive for power in the overcrowded and impoverished territory.

Mark R. DePue

Author Mark R. DePue joins us to discuss the 233rd Military Police (MP) Company from Springfield, Illinois, and his new book, Patrolling Baghdad: A Military Police Company and the War In Iraq.

Dennis Prager

Dennis Prager – 2007-05-22

Prager H1: The bill seems unworkable and unenforceable, but we have to do something to preserve our American culture, so it’s too early to dismiss it out of hand… Former Nebraska Senator and member of the 9/11 Commission, Bob Kerry, writes a strong defense of our intervention in Iraq and our involvement in the Mideast… New strife in Lebanon underscores the opportunism of Al Qaeda. If not opposed, they will spread.

Koran Needs to Be Reinterpreted

Prager H2: Dennis talks to Dr. Tawfik Hamid, a onetime member of Jemaah Islamiya, an Islamist terrorist group. Now a medical doctor and Muslim reformer, he believes that the Koran can be fairly reinterpreted to encourage a more peaceful and modern approach to life… Tony Blair was interviewed yesterday by Brian Williams for MSNBC. Dennis plays clips and comments that he wished that GW was as naturally eloquent as the British PM. But it probably wouldn’t have made a difference. After all, Blair is despised by much of his own party for his stance on Iraq and the War on Terror.

Ultimate Issues Hour: God as a Celestial Butler

Prager H3: This is the image that many have of God, but is it misleading, even unfair? If you are religious, do you think faithful practice will protect you from danger or disease? If so, you are bound to be disappointed.

Hugh Hewitt – 2007-05-22
